• Altamira Estate

The name of this estate comes from the fact that it is located in an area called Paraje Altamira, which has clear boundaries defined by the climate and the structure of the soil in its formation. It is located nearby the city of La Consulta, in the San Carlos department.

This estate is characterized by being a completely organic plantation.

    Total area: 25 hectares.

Plantation: 22.5 hectares of Malbec vines, with a density ranging from 5,000 to 7,400 plants per hectare, depending on the type of soil of each sector of the estate.

It is located at an altitude of 1090 m above sea level.

The temperatures in this property range from 35°C in the hottest days to between -7 and -11°C in the coldest mornings. Altamira’s wide temperature range, together with the characteristics of its soil, turn this estate’s Malbec into a unique grape with distinctive characteristics for top-quality wines and aged wines.

    The Soil

The soil of the Altamira estate has bigger rocks.

These rocks are of different sizes as well as spherical due to the transferring of the alluvial cone water. There is an accumulation of calcium on their surface, which makes roots adhere to the rock, and this allows the plant to obtain a higher quantity of minerals, humidity and typicity of this soil, so unique and particular in Mendoza. The deepness at which these rocks are located is varied, always below 150 cm.

There is furrow irrigation and drip irrigation in this estate with water coming from the Tunuyán river. We combine these two methods because this allows us to differentiate the irrigation according to the sector of the land, thus achieving the maximum quality of the grape and the maximum expression of the area.
